UWS students are set to perform The Producers at the Gaiety Theatre later this month.

The third and fourth year Performance (Musical Theatre) students will have the opportunity to perform the internationally award-winning musical, at the Ayr-based theatre from Wednesday 24th to Saturday 27th January 2018. All performances will take place at 7.30pm apart from on the Saturday where there will be an additional matinee performance at 2pm.

The production, based on Mel Brooksclassic cult comedy film, sets the standard for modern, outrageous, in-your-face humour. The Producers tells the story of a down-on-his-luck Broadway producer and his mild-mannered accountant who come up with a scheme to produce the most notorious flop in history thereby tricking their backers out of millions of dollars. Only one thing goes awry: the show is a smash hit! At the core of the production is a poignant emotional journey of two very different men who become friends.

Stephen Langston, Programme Leader of the UWS Performance programme, is producing the performance of The Producers with Jane Robertson, Senior lecturer in performance, directing.

Stephen said: The Producers is a Broadway classic and we are delighted that our exceptionally talented students are presenting and performing this hugely popular musical at the Gaiety later this month.
