The School of Education offers English language support to students, who do not speak English as a first language, from all levels and schools at UWS. This support is offered in two ways:
• English language modules – teaching starts w/c 7th Jan 2019
• English language support sessions
Students can attend a module and support session(s).
English language modules – 20 credits
The English language modules in T2, all scheduled for Paisley (if sufficient demand then delivery at another campus will be considered), available are:
• Advanced English 2 (level 9, general English module)
• Business English 2 (level 9, English with a focus on Business English; students not studying business are welcome to attend)
• English Proficiency 2 (level 10, general English for students who have a higher level of English)
• English for Academic Purposes (level 9, module designed to support students to improve their English to support their academic study)
As with all modules at UWS, please note:
• attendance is required and recorded on Banner
• homework expected outwith weekly classes
• module performance is assessed
• result recorded on your UWS transcript
To register for a module, students should complete the ‘English Language Module Form’, check the day/time of their programme modules and indicate all availability for studying English, returning to englishlanguage@uws.ac.uk or to E319, Henry Buildings East, UWS Paisley as soon as possible. The deadline for submission of the form is 12 noon on Friday 25th January, only in exceptional circumstances will this be extended.

Erasmus + exchange students are able to study one English language module as an extra module at no cost as part of the agreement per academic year. The School of Education offer a number of free spaces to non-EU students who are studying at UWS for a full academic year (or more). Other students – please contact englishlanguage@uws.ac.uk who will offer specific advice.
English language support sessions
The sessions offer support for students to prepare for
• Oral presentations – one session
• Essays and written assignments – one/two sessions
The sessions are free of charge (funded by the International Centre) and class sizes will be limited.
