A photography exhibition of families from across Europe who met through the Erasmus programme features a couple who met at UWS. French-Irish couple Severine (Teruel) McCarthy and Aidan McCarthy met 23 years ago whilst they were both studying in Scotland at the then University of Paisley.
Severine who graduated in 1996 from the Business School with a BA Economics met Aidan – a Manufacturing Systems graduate (1999) – and decided to finish her degree in Paisley.
Severine commented: “I just loved it so much I didn’t want to come home.”
The couple who decided to live in Ireland after graduation have been married for 11 years and have two children, Luca (13) and Emily (7).
“We eventually moved in together, bought our first house, and we had our son, and then we got married after that, so we did everything in the wrong order according to an Irish family, but that was a clash of culture; in France it would be quiet normal.”
Severine was one of 18 alumni that returned to visit Paisley Campus as part of Erasmus reunion on Paisley Campus on Friday 23 June 2017.
