We are delighted to announce that UWS has been shortlisted in not one but two categories for the national 2018 Guardian University Awards!
Our Principal and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Craig Mahoney, has been shortlisted in the category of Inspiring Leader and is the only leader from a Scottish institution in the running for this highly prestigious award.
The School of Business & Enterprise has also been shortlisted in the category of Course & Curriculum Design for their use of digital technologies and innovative pedagogical approach to teaching.
For the Inspiring Leader category, leaders were nominated by the Guardian University Awards judging panel and shortlisted by Guardian journalists.

The award aims to celebrate inspirational leadership in UK higher education and, says the Guardian: “This award recognises a leader who has brought out the best in the people they work with to achieve exceptional results. They champion innovation and collaboration, deliver real change for their institution and the sector, and inspire the higher education community.”

In announcing the Inspiring Leader shortlist the Guardian judges commented that “Craig has done a great job in advancing UWS.”

Heather Armstrong, from the UWS Student’s Association (SAUWS) has also welcomed Craig’s shortlisting, she said: “We at SAUWS could not be more delighted to see Craig shortlisted for this award.  Craig’s leadership at UWS has resulted in great strides forward in terms of the whole student experience from academic life and facilities right through to opportunities for global citizenship equipping our students with the right blend of skills to make their mark on the world stage.”
The School of Business & Enterprise’s shortlisting in the category of Course & Curriculum Design showcases their pioneering immersive digital teaching solution which is delivering highly personalised, hyper-flexible and collaborative learning experiences for our students.

The winners will be announced at a special ceremony on Tuesday 24th April in London.
