Welcome to the first cohort of students on the new Masters Programme in Advanced Thin Film Technologies who recently started at UWS - seen here with the programme delivery team.


This is the first year of the course with a mix of Chinese students (from Changchun University of Science & Technology, Changchun Institute of Technology, Xian Technical University) and part-time students from industry.


The course is delivered by staff from UWS Institute of Thin Films, Sensors & Imaging (TFSU), Professor Des Gibson, Dr Gregory Morozov, Dr David Hughes and Dr Hutson and Dr Song with Dr David Hutson and Dr Shigeng Song as co-programme leads for the new Masters.


Thin film technologies are key enablers in a wide range of global research, development, manufacturing, industrial and high technology applications and products. This unique Masters programme has appeal for a global audience, both for continuing professional development and for those planning a career in thin film technologies, related products and applications.
