University of the West of Scotland (UWS), which has a reputation for excellence in sport and exercise science, has placed highly in Shanghai Rankings Global Ranking of Sport Science Schools and Departments.

 

This international league table, which was published on 8 December 2016, sees UWS in the overall band of 51-100 out of 300. The University ranks second in Scotland as well as being in the top 15 in the UK for its sports science expertise.

 

This new league table sees universities ranked by several indicators of academic and research performance, including research output, research quality and international collaboration.

The Universitys Institute of Clinical Exercise and Health Science, which is based in the School of Science and Sport, is at the forefront of research in the field of sport and exercise science in the sector, with its researchers working in collaboration with a global network including partners in Brazil, China, Australia and the US.
