Here at UWS we have comprehensive plans in place to welcome students in September for the start of the new term. You may already have accepted an offer from the University for September 2020 entry, or you may still be deciding on your options as you consider the next step on your educational journey. However, we wanted to write to you to tell you about the work the University has been doing over recent months and to provide you with more information about what students can expect at UWS.

A new welcome information hub (www.uws.ac.uk/welcome) on our website is being regularly updated with all the very latest developments – please check it out.

Our plans will ensure that UWS students have an amazing student experience and our next academic year will formally begin on 28 September 2020, when induction will commence.

Our courses will be delivered through a new flexible hybrid model with blended online and on-campus learning and teaching, ensuring our students enjoy an excellent experience. Students will also have access to support services and extra-curricular activities both on campus and/or online, in keeping with government guidance.

All courses will give students the chance to engage in learning and teaching through a range of methods to ensure they are able to make the most of their student experience, demonstrate their understanding of the course content, and achieve great academic success.

The teaching and learning activities that will be delivered through our new hybrid model are designed to be flexible and promote interactive learning and collaboration with classmates, while building a real sense of community amongst our students and academics.

Our welcome information hub (www.uws.ac.uk/welcome) provides significant detail around what students can expect as they embark on their studies, including learning and teaching and our plans for ensuring welcoming and safe campus environments, including our student accommodation.

This web resource will be updated as we move through the national stages of emerging from the COVID-19 pandemic and you are encouraged to check the website on a regular basis. We will also keep in touch over the course of the summer to provide new and continuing students with more information at programme level.

In the meantime, we hope this update and the information available on our website is helpful in providing an overview of the wonderful experience students can look forward to at UWS this autumn and in helping you to prepare for the next stage of your studies.

With best wishes
