The UWS School of Education & Social Sciences is recognised as one of the most innovative providers of education degrees in Scotland and the UK.

Building upon the strong record of graduate employment, rigorous academic background and world-class research reputation, our degree courses focus on gaining hands-on practical experience. They will prepare you for all the challenges of a career in modern education environments. Our courses focus on pre-school, primary and secondary schools, further and higher education and the wider community, and English as a Second Language which is designed for students who wish to become proficient in English to open up a range of career opportunities.

Undergraduate

In addition to our undergraduate degree in English as a Second Language, we offer a range of career-focused undergraduate (Bachelor) degrees in early years, primary education and youth and community education.

Postgraduate

We offer a range of courses to meet the range of needs of those studying after completing an undergraduate degree:

>>We are a leading provider of initial teacher education through our two Professional Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) qualifications.

>>We offer the MEd TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) and MSc Critical Youth and Community Studies courses, delivered at our Paisley and Lanarkshire campuses respectively.

>>We also cater for the growing demand for continuing or career-long professional development for qualified practitioners via a range of online Masters (MEd and MSc). Our fulltime MSc Education offers pathway options in Inclusive Education, Leadership, and Early Years.

>>We are actively engaged in educational research initiatives and offer a range of full-time and part-time research degree programmes of study (MRes, MPhil, PhD and ProfD).
