7月14日，2016年先驱报高等教育奖颁奖（Herald Higher Education Awards)晚会在格拉斯哥的Radisson Blu Hotel酒店成功举办。

  此项教育奖由苏格兰先驱报与西苏格兰大学联合举办，旨在庆祝苏格兰高等教育机构在教学、科研、产学结合等方面中所取得的非凡成就。

  此奖同时也得到英国高等教育质量保证机构（QAA苏格兰）、苏格兰大学联盟、苏格兰基金委员会（SFC)、苏格兰学历管理委员会(SQA)等官方机构的支持。评委们将从高校的自身推广、技术应用、与雇主的合作、对学生的支持以及扩大准入政策等方面进行评比。

  本教育奖项在2015年分为12个类别，今年增至13个类别，分别是：

2. Research Project of the Year

3. Outstanding Employer Engagement

4. Outstanding Contribution to the Local Community

5. Partnership Award

6. Lifetime Achievement Award

7. Student Support Team of the Year

8. Campaign of the Year

9. Academic Support Team of the Year

10. Outstanding Contribution from a Student

11. Widening Access Award

12. Enhancing Student Learning Award

13. Innovation Technology Excellence Award
